THE FULL HOUSE— CHAPTER FIVE
(Links to it: Tumblr, FF.Net, AO3)

Shameful, shameful confession time: I did not like Irene when I first watched “A Scandal in Belgravia”.

Well, I don’t know it’s that’s QUITE true. I was uncomfortable with the character. It was not because I felt she was a bad character. I just felt she was Moffat going “Here are my fetishes! Let me show them to you!”. It was mostly he has a straight guy who watches a lot porn idea of what a lesbian and a dominatrix are (Lesbian Spank Inferno…. Need I say more?). It was really not the character I had a problem with and more the extras that did not seem to add a whole lot to the overall characterization.

But in writing Irene and seeing Scandal a few more times, I’ve come to really like her. I still don’t ship her with Sherlock, but I like her.

When it came to bringing Irene into the story, the last thing I wanted to do was put her in competition with Molly for Sherlock. I felt it had been done before. Also, Sherlock is the one who is (subconsciously) pursuing Molly, so I don’t think he would bring someone in who interfere with that. I also think that Irene has learned her lesson from Scandal. She’s not going to allow any feelings for Sherlock to cloud her.

But then there’s Molly. Irene self-identifies as a lesbian. And Molly is freaking ADORABLE. Irene’s pursuit of Molly would also really bug Sherlock, which I think she loves the idea of. It gives Irene power over Sherlock.

Now as to my decision to actually have Sherlock be a virgin… He was identified as such by Mycroft and Moriarty. If there are any two people on this planet who could figure Sherlock out, it’s them. Mycroft has also been around Sherlock his entire life.

When it comes to Sherlock’s sexuality… Well, it’s really hard to describe how I see him in this story. The idea of sex bores him unless he’s got a very specific reason to do it. It seems pointless to him. He can much more efficiently take care of his own sexual needs on his own. When he starts to have sex with Molly it is not so much about the sex as it is the only way he can really express how he feels about her.

THE PICTURE

“You have ice cream in your freezer.” Lexie (who is BTW showcase her mad art skills at artbylexie.tumblr.com now) did this one recently and I have to say I laughed when I saw it. Not because I thought it was silly (it’s gorgeous), but because it’s strange to see Sherlock and Molly in a tender situation but NOT romantically involved. I’ve been writing them together for so long it seems natural, you know?

But I love how sweet this is. Sherlock is really trying to comfort Molly and she looks SO cute, with those doe eyes.

“…to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse: for richer, for poorer; in sickness and in health; to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God’s holy law; and thereto I give thee my troth…”

A year ago today, a promise was made by Prince William and his bride Catherine Middleton; a promise to love one another until their hearts stopped beating. We watched, we laughed, and though some of us will refuse to admit it, we cried when they said I do. Even that oh-so-adorable balcony kiss had us all wishing them the very best for their future. Now, after a year of royal tours, speculation of royal babies and even seven weeks apart, the royal lovebirds are celebrating their first year together. Let’s all wish them a very happy first wedding anniversary, and a mutual hope that their love will continue to strengthen as the years go by. Happy Anniversary, you two!
